Check out one of our recommended memoirs for your summer reading, An Army of Ex-Lovers. Boston's weekly Gay Community News was "the center of the universe" during the late 1970s, writes Amy Hoffman in this memoir of gay liberation before AIDS, before gay weddings, and before The L Word. HISTORICAL MEANING OF THE WORD GAYhttps://lnkd.in/e8ktRDXEThe word "gay" primarily refers to a person who is hom*osexual, meaning someone who is romantically or sexually attracted to members of the same sex. Historically, the term "gay" meant "happy" or "carefree," but its meaning shifted in the 20th century to describe hom*osexual individuals, particularly men. The word became widely accepted and used in the LGBTQ+ community as a positive and affirming identity. In addition to its use as a noun to refer to people, "gay" can also be used as an adjective, as in "gay rights" or "gay culture." It’s important to note that the term "gay" should be used respectfully and accurately, avoiding any pejorative connotations. Over time, the term has evolved to encompass a broader spectrum of identities within the LGBTQ+ community. It is now commonly used to describe not only men but also women and non-binary individuals who experience same-sex attraction. The acceptance and understanding of the term have grown significantly, contributing to greater visibility and rights for LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide.#Gay #LGBTQ #hom*osexual #GayRights #GayCulture #LoveIsLove #Pride #Equality #LGBTQCommunity #SameSexAttractionGay, hom*osexual, Same-sex attraction, LGBTQ, Gay rights, Gay culture, Gay pride, Love is love, Gay community, Equality, hom*osexual men, hom*osexual women, LGBTQ rights, Same-sex relationships, Gay identity, Gay history, Gay visibility, Sexual orientation, LGBTQ acceptance, Gay marriage, Gay lifestyle, LGBTQ support, Gay activism, Gay and lesbian, LGBTQ awareness,

🏳️🌈 NEW BLOG: I can't help but wonder why some politicians and groups seem fixated on queer personal lives instead of addressing crucial issues. It begs the question: What drives this need to control the private lives of queer people? Is it a diversion from real problems or a desire to maintain political power?#gayblog #queerpride #prioritizeprogress #gayblogger

GAY RIGHTS VS BLACK RIGHTS | CAN WE SAY IT HAS SIMILARITIES? HAS WHITE AMERICA TWISTED MORAL AROUND TO THE EXTENT WHERE INDIVIDUALS LIKE MYRICK DON'T HAVE A BETTER CLUE ON THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BLACK RIGHTS VS. GAY RIGHTS. HAVE THEY PUT ANOTHER PUPPET THEY CAN CONTROL IN POSITION?We can all affirm that there are many huge differences. As an award-winning activist who speaks across this country. I see this as an insult to black families or the black civil rights movement in America.Ignorant doesn't always mean a lack of education or knowledge. One of the many major reasons I stopped applauding successful blacks in positions is because many are sold out. There will never be a comparison between black rights and gay rights. There are no similarities, and if anyone tries to create one, It tells us how ignorant they are of black culture!!WE DIDN'T CREATE GAY LIFESTYLES. How can we create gay rights? MAKES IT MAKE SENSE." This is a remarkable interview for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the NYT actually taking the time to explore Right leaning issues in an objective and civilized way. Brad Polumbo is one of a rising number of Right leaning and gay individuals who is making his voice heard in ways that contribute to a more civilized and rational approach to cultural issues that divide us. Disclaimer: I also know Mr. Polumbo.===Polumbo:I think there’s a third way on these issues between the old school, hom*ophobic, religious way and the way that simply adopts the progressive views. That other way is a politician who says, I’m for equality under the law, that means gay marriage is the law of the land. Whether or not I personally religiously agree with it or not. I’m for transgender people, adults having the right to live their lives, how they see fit and being treated equally under the law. However, I support restrictions that ensure fairness in sports based on biological sex. And I support evidence-based restrictions that ensure minors aren’t accessing care they can’t fully understand.

Do you know the meaning of this flag? It's the intersex flag, designed by Morgan Carpenter of Intersex Human Rights Australia in 2013. What do the components mean? - The color purple was picked because it is not associated with gender, - The circle is unbroken and unornamented, symbolizing wholeness and completeness, and our potentialities. - The color yellow was also picked because it is not associated with gender. #Intersex #IntersexAwareness #IntersexAwarenessDay #LGBTQIA #Flags #IntersexFlagThis post was made by my team. !ALTDeutsche Bildbeschreibung in den Kommentaren.

In 2003 discrimination against people on the grounds of sexual orientation in all areas of employment was made illegal in the UK. 53 years ago today on 27th November in 1970 the first ever British Gay Rights Demonstration took place organised by the Gay Liberation Front (GLF). Below is a picture of a plague remembering the point at which the demonstration commenced in London. The GLF was founded in October 1970 by two students of The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). This first ever gay rights demonstration was attended by just 150 people. The first meeting of the GLF attracted just 19 people. In 2023 Pride in London attracted over 30,000 people. So in 53 years we have gone from Britain's first Gay Rights demonstration drawing 150 people to 30,000 people proudly marching through London. These numbers are a sobering reminder of how different things were just 50 years ago and therefore on this day it's good to remember how important it is that we continue to push for equality, diversity, and inclusion for all.#employmentrights #equalityatwork #lgbtqinclusion #lgbtqrights #onthisday #historymatters #equalitydiversityinclusion
