39m ago
Eldridge was promoted from High-A Eugene to Double-A Richmond on Tuesday.
Eldridge couldn't be stopped at High-A, slashing .333/.442/.615 with 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases over 48 contests. The top prospect will close out the year with a taste of Double-A, which is where he is likely to begin in 2025. A strong campaign next year could position him for his major-league debut in the second half of 2025.

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Exits with acute back spasm
1h ago
Naylor left Tuesday's game versus the Royals with an acute back spasm, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Naylor went 1-for-4 but exited in the eighth inning, with Jhonkensy Noel replacing him as a pinch runner and staying in the game at first base. Noel could see time at first base if Naylor is unable to play in Wednesday's series finale. Naylor has mostly avoided injuries this year, missing time with general soreness in late July.

Cardinals' Michael Siani: Provides key hit in win
1h ago
Siani went 1-for-4 with two RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 extra-innings win over the Brewers.
Siani came through with a two-run single in the 12th inning to put the Cardinals ahead for good. This was his second game back after a four-week absence with an oblique strain. He's regained a starting job in center field, relegating Victor Scott to a speed-and-defense role off the bench. Siani has been excellent defensively without being a black hole on offense, slashing .253/.296/.320 with 10 extra-base hits, 20 RBI, 37 runs scored and 15 steals over 103 contests this season.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Swipes bag Tuesday

Nootbaar went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-4 extra-innings win over the Brewers.

The outfielder has regained a starting role in left field amid his hot stretch, with Alec Burleson at designated hitter, Jordan Walker in right field and Brendan Donovan at second base most frequently. Royals' Lucas Erceg: Struggles in return to mound
1h ago
Erceg (hand) allowed three runs on two hits and struck out two over two-thirds of an inning during Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Guardians.
Erceg loaded the bases with two singles and a hit batsman in the top of the eighth inning. James McArthur then walked in one run and gave up a two-run single to Steven Kwan, with all three runs on Erceg's line. Erceg has been charged with seven runs across two innings over his last three appearances, a disappointing turn of events after his 15.1-inning scoreless streak from July 22 to Aug. 26. Overall, he has a 3.88 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 59:15 K:BB over 51 innings while logging eight saves and 18 holds between the Royals and the Athletics this year. Prior to his hand issue, Erceg had been operating as the Royals' closer, but if his performance continues to be poor, the job could be once again up for grabs.

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Three-hit effort in win
1h ago
Manzardo went 3-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Royals.
Manzardo has multiple hits in two of three games since he rejoined the big-league roster. He's gone 5-for-10 with two home runs in that span. The 24-year-old is slashing .239/.276/.424 with two homers, nine RBI, six runs scored, 11 doubles and no stolen bases over 98 plate appearances. He's started three straight games at designated hitter since his recall and looks to be cutting into Will Brennan's playing time, though the right-handed-hitting Jhonkensy Noel could be the one to lose out more often versus right-handed pitchers in the long run.
